The recent discovery of a submerged car in a Georgia pond could be linked to a wealthy Scarsdale, NY couple who went missing more than 40 years ago and sparked one of the largest searches in the state’s history. Charles and Catharine Romer, “snowbirds” who lived in the ritzy Westchester County enclave for most of the year, vanished in April 1980 during their trek back north after spending the winter in Florida – a yearly tradition since they married in the mid-1970s, according to past reports. While they might be able to find middle ground over other items in the agenda, deep-seated bipartisan divisions over the handling of corporate donations suggest the road to a compromise on this topic before the end of the year remains difficult at best. Business Failures Reaches COVID Levels, Food Services Worst Hit

Business failures have hit a post-pandemic peak, matching the rate measured in October 2020, with food and beverage the worst affected. Australian businesses are failing at a rate not seen since the height of the pandemic lockdowns in October 2020. All sectors are affected, but food and beverage services are worst hit, according to the October Business Risk Index (BRI) from CreditorWatch. Annualised insolvency rates have more than doubled over the last 18 months, exceeding pre-COVID levels by about 25 percent. Court actions are also now well above pre-COVID levels as large creditors such as banks and the ATO seek to recover debts. The number of cases went up by 13 percent from August 2023 to August 2024. The average failure rate across all sectors currently sits at 5.04 percent of total businesses, up from 3.97 percent in October last year. The previous high was 5.08 percent, recorded in October 2020 at the height of COVID-19. After the initial phase of the pandemic, the failure rate began to decrease steadily, before it began to rise again in October 2023. Waukesha is deep red, and Cheney herself said there were millions of secret Kamala voters on the Republican side of the aisle. She was wrong. Not a shocker, but it is funny. “Republicans want to kill your kids. It’s actually true.” At least, that’s what Washington Post columnist and MNSBC contributor Jennifer Rubin said on her podcast recently anyway. I was writing an article about it a few days ago, and all I could think about was how ridiculous and unhinged this woman sounded. But I’d also just finished covering the Laken Riley murder trial, and it reminded me that Democrats don’t just “want to kill your kids.” Many of their laws and policies actually are killing your children as we speak. While Rubin was carrying on about how Republicans oppose breakthrough medical research and want to give minors semi-automatic weapons, the fact is that the Biden-Harris administration allowed Laken Riley’s murderer into the country illegally and even provided him with a free taxpayer-funded flight to Georgia. And while Riley was a 22-year-old college student, she was still someone’s child.
