In Gavin Newsom’s California, tens of thousands of vagrants inhabit the streets. It’s a problem in almost every city across the state. The vagrants set up encampments and drug dens on sidewalks outside businesses. Many have rap sheets a mile long. A good number are mentally ill, but because of California’s refusal to get them the mental help they need, these people are left to fester as their illnesses spiral out of control.
One such vagrant was so addled and agitated about the situation in Gaza that he decided he was a soldier who should exact revenge on the American people for our involvement in the “genocide.” According to CBS News, this man had a lengthy criminal and mental health record and operated between the Chico and Sacramento areas.
He decided that the scales must be balanced. In other words, because children are being killed in Gaza, therefore children in the United States should also be “executed” in solidarity. This sick individual planned to attack Christian children attending a Seventh-Day Adventist school in Oroville, California. Posing as a grandfather interested in enrolling his grandchildren in the school, the suspect took an Uber to Feather River Adventist School and met with the principal.
The suspect then asked if he could use the restroom before he left. In the bathroom, he encountered two kindergarteners. This brutish man shot the two little children before leaving and shooting himself dead. The attack traumatized the entire small community.
As of this writing, the two little boys are still in critical condition but are improving after undergoing surgery last Friday.
While the actions of a mentally ill person cannot be laid at the feet of a politician, the policies that placed this man on the street — untreated and clearly raving — led to the attack on innocent little Christian schoolchildren.
Not all California politicians are sitting idle in the wake of this tragedy. California Republican Assemblyman Bill Essayli put forth a bill for a second time that would put armed personnel in public schools across the state. Essayli reintroduced this assembly bill because of the shooting of these little boys. While this solution might help deter other such attacks in the future, it still wouldn’t have helped in this particular case. However, Essayli hopes that such legislation will “set the standard on what we expect at schools and the type of safety and protection we expect for our kids.”
This story hasn’t been very widely reported by the mainstream media. Why would that be? There are three reasons: 1. Because it further highlights the incompetence of a leftist-run state. 2. It’s a hate crime against an acceptable victim (i.e., Christians). 3. It would brighten the spotlight on California’s homelessness and the dangers of leaving untreated mentally ill on the streets to deteriorate.
This is Newsom’s Golden State. He’s just hoping the rest of the country won’t notice so that he has a shot at the presidency in 2028.
