Trump’s victory was locked in when Texas’ 40 electoral votes were awarded to him. President-elect Donald Trump has formally won the Electoral College, officially securing the presidency on Tuesday. Texas officials joined other presidential electors across the country as they convened at their respective state capitols to cast their electoral ballots and formalize Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election held on November 5. Electoral votes for the election were allocated to states based on the 2020 Census. Each state’s electoral votes are equivalent to their number of House representatives and two senators representing their states. The Electoral College consists of 538 electors, and a majority of 270 is needed to win the presidency. Trump surpassed the required number on Tuesday, officially securing 312 electoral votes, while Harris won 226. OPEC+ pumps about half of the world’s oil and earlier this month delayed a plan to raise output until April. The group extended some of its supply cuts until the end of 2026 due to weak demand and booming production from the U.S. and some other non-OPEC+ producers. OPEC has a history of under-estimating U.S. output gains going back to the start of the shale oil boom, which has seen the United States become the world’s top oil producer. The United States now pumps a fifth of world supply. Some delegates are more bullish now on U.S. oil and say the reason behind this is Trump. All aspects of the oil business have come under the growing influence of the Guards, from the shadow fleet of tankers that secretively ship sanctioned crude, to logistics and the front companies selling the oil, mostly to China, according to more than a dozen people interviewed by Reuters. The extent of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) control over oil exports has not previously been reported. North Carolina parent Quinton Lofton arrested for strangling student inside school in caught-on-video attack: police

A North Carolina father was arrested Monday after allegedly storming into a high school and strangling a teenage student in a caught-on-video attack. Quinton Lofton, 43, was charged with felony assault by strangulation and disorderly conduct for allegedly jumping a 17-year-old inside the halls of Fike High School in Wilson the same morning, CBS 17 reported. Lofton, who has a child at the school, was supposed to report to the high school’s office but instead targeted the student — allegedly over a prior dispute outside its halls. Quinton Lofton, 43, was arrested Monday after allegedly storming into a high school and strangling a teenage student. WRAL “The parent did not report to the office and instead assaulted a student in the hallway,” Fike Principal Ross Renfrow said in the statement to families obtained by the local station. The attack was an escalation of a “situation that happened outside of school,” Renfrow added without providing further details on the said situation.
