President Donald Trump surprised the country on Friday by promising to sign an executive order later in the day making English the official language of the United States.
Doing so negates a Clinton-era mandate that federal agencies provide explanations of services and benefits in languages other than English, and it will be the first time in the country’s nearly 250 years that it has an official language. A signing ceremony is expected to take place on Friday in the Oval Office.
The move adds the U.S. to a list of 180 out of 195 countries that have certified their own official languages. Despite the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence being written exclusively in English, the political willpower to officialize its language was never there until now.
Last year, President Trump hinted at the possibility of an executive order after railing against progressives who he claimed sought to undermine the country’s heritage by fighting past attempts to make English its official language.

A supposed feud involving the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles and the White House seems to be cleared up after President Trump declared the team would be extended an invitation immediately.
As Blaze News previously reported, an alleged inside source had told outlets that the NFL team declined an invitation to the White House with a “massive no.”
Many responded to the apparent rejection with rage, including former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly.
“GO F YOURSELVES EAGLES. My husband is a fan so I got onboard but F this BS,” she wrote.
Soon thereafter, NBC’s Pro Football Talk cited a source that allegedly had direct knowledge of the Eagles’ thoughts on the matter, who said the team would show up if invited. The source also allegedly revealed the team would be honored to attend and that rejecting an invitation was never considered by the franchise.
‘It was a great performance.’
While in the Oval Office, President Trump was asked by a reporter if the Eagles were “being extended an invitation.”

Just days after calling him a ‘dictator without elections,’ President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Friday, where the two discussed US efforts to end the war in Ukraine, and discuss the minerals deal.
According to Trump, there’s a ‘very fair deal’ on the table, which would allow the US to use Ukraine’s rare earths for AI and military applications. Trump said that once the minerals deal is done, the war will be over, and “Russia won’t want to return.”
Zelensky, apparently not a historian, said that Putin ‘began the war’ and ‘has to pay,’ while Trump says he’s “in the middle” regarding the war, adding “I’m for both Ukraine and Russia.” Trump also added that he’s committed to NATO.

President Donald Trump is planning an executive order to make English the official language of the United States.
The planned order, obtained and reviewed by The Epoch Times and confirmed by a White House official, is unique to the nation’s 250-year history.
It would rescind a federal mandate by President Bill Clinton that required any agencies receiving federal money to provide language assistance to those who do not speak English.
It would allow agencies to maintain practices of providing documents in services in other languages “but encourages new Americans to adopt a national language that opens doors to greater opportunities.”
“Agencies will have the flexibility to decide how and when to offer services in languages other than English to best service the American people and fulfill their agency mission,” the White House fact sheet of the planned order reads, also noting that English is the most widely used of the 350 different languages spoken across the country.
