If nothing changes, TikTok is set to be banned next month.

Now, the platform is appealing to the United States Supreme Court claiming that a ban would be a violation of the free speech of countless Americans.

The Gateway Pundit reported,

The popular video app, which is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, is currently scheduled to be banned nationwide on January 19th, 2025, just one day before Donald Trump takes office.

However, it has now filed a petition to the Supreme Court in a last ditch attempt to try and save its place in the valuable American media market after all its other legal attempts fell on deaf ears.

“The Act will shutter one of America’s most popular speech platforms the day before a presidential inauguration,” TikTok wrote in its petition. “This, in turn, will silence the speech of Applicants and the many Americans who use the platform to communicate about politics, commerce, arts, and other matters of public concern.”

As a conservative content creator that has used TikTok for years, this argument is highly ironic to me. Despite their newfound appreciation for freedom of speech, the platform has systematically censored conservative…

Iranian lawmakers have asked to amend a bill that would impose tougher penalties on women who refuse to wear the mandatory hijab, local media reported on Wednesday. The bill, already approved in parliament but not yet submitted to the government for final confirmation, has stirred a heated debate in Iran more than two years since nationwide protests erupted in part over the Islamic republic’s dress code for women. We recently learned that ABC News has agreed to pay $15 million toward Donald Trump’s presidential library to settle a defamation lawsuit and $1 million as fees to Trump’s legal team. Trump had sued ABC News and George Stephanopoulos in federal court in Miami after the network aired a program in which host George Stephanopoulos repeatedly lied that Trump was “found liable for rape” and “defaming the victim of that rape.” Also part of the settlement, ABC News posted an editor’s note to its website expressing regret over Stephanopoulos’ statements during a March 10 segment on his “This Week” program. When there is prolonged anarchy, occasional fairness seems like a triumph, hence this news caused celebrations among Trump supporters. Ideally, Stephanopoulos should have apologized on air. There should also be a complete retraction, i.e. the clip with the lies must be expunged from the ABC News website. If the clips remain, they should be captioned to state that the claims were false. The proposed financing from the DOE Loan Programs Office (LPO) is intended to fund a variety of projects aiming to “expand hydropower generation and battery storage, upgrade transmission capacity through reconductoring and grid enhancing technologies, and enable virtual power plants,” according to the press release. The loan commitment is the largest in LPO’s history. PG&E previously filed for bankruptcy in early 2019, following several massive wildfires that were sparked by its equipment. The utility company announced in April 2022 that it would pay $55 million in order to avoid criminal charges related to two wildfires, the 2019 Kincade Fire and 2021 Dixie Fire. ROME — The popularity of Pope Francis among American adults continues its steep downward trend, reaching its lowest point since his election in 2013, according to the latest Rasmussen report. Rasmussen’s national telephone and online survey, conducted in early December, finds that only 41 percent of American Adults have a favorable impression of Pope Francis – down from 61 percent in 2013, the year he was elected. Moreover, 31 percent now view Francis unfavorably, nearly triple his unfavorability rating in 2013 (12 percent). Twenty-eight percent of U.S. adults say they are not sure. Predictably, more Democrats (53 percent) have a favorable opinion of Pope Francis than Republicans (36 percent) or independents (34 percent). Similarly, 35 percent of Democrats believe Pope Francis has been better than most recent popes, while just 13 percent of Republicans and 16 percent of the unaffiliated share that opinion.
