Weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun had known about its partially incorrect reporting over the alleged trouble between TV personality Masahiro Nakai and a woman soon after its Dec. 26 issue was published, but issued a correction only after the publication was criticized by former Osaka Gov. Toru Hashimoto, who is now a well-known TV commentator.
On Thursday, Shukan Bunshun published an editorial from the editor-in-chief apologizing for the inaccuracy and that it had reported follow-up stories based on new findings that the woman was invited by Nakai and not the Fuji TV executive.
“In response to Mr. Hashimoto’s suggestion that ‘it is dishonest to overwrite an error so casually,’ we have added a correction note to the article in question on the online version of Shukan Bunshun,” the letter stated.

Hamas confirmed on Thursday the death of its military chief Mohammed Deif, accused by Israel of being one of the masterminds behind the October 7 attack and whose killing it announced last year.
“The Al-Qassam Brigades announce to our great people the martyrdom of a group of distinguished fighters and heroic commanders,” Abu Obeida, spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing, announced in a video statement, naming “commander Mohammed Deif, chief of staff of the Al-Qassam Brigades (and) commander Marwan Issa, deputy chief of staff” among them.
Israel had accused Deif of being one of the key architects of October 7, along with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed on October 16, 2024.
On August 1 last year, the Israeli military announced it had killed Deif in an air strike in Gaza the month before.
The military said fighter jets had struck Khan Yunis on July 13 and “following an intelligence assessment, it can be confirmed that Mohammed Deif was eliminated in the strike”.
He was killed along with one of his top commanders, Rafa Salama, the military said.

Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc sent a video of Canada’s border security efforts to the man U.S. President Donald Trump has chosen to oversee his tariff agenda—part of Canada’s pitch to avoid devastating duties that could come as soon as Saturday.
LeBlanc’s office confirmed the three-minute video was texted to Howard Lutnick Wednesday evening after the billionaire financier’s Senate hearing on his nomination to lead the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Lutnick told senators Wednesday that Trump’s threatened 25 percent across-the-board duties would be an emergency measure to achieve border security—and could be followed by more tariffs in the future.
Leblanc met Lutnick at Mar-a-Lago late last year after he and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau travelled there for a dinner with Trump at the Florida resort a few days after the president made his initial tariff threat.
Leblanc’s office says the video was meant to provide context to an accompanying personal message.

Hoo boy, we have covered many great moments from Kash Patel’s confirmation hearing today. Don’t get us wrong—all of the hearings have been very entertaining (and infuriating), but Patel’s can compete with RFK Jr.’s and maybe even Pete Hegseth’s. Democrats just can’t seem to get out of their own way. To be fair, we imagine losing as massively as they did would have that effect on any organization or group, but still.

They are not changing anyone’s mind about Trump’s picks, and in fact, they have only managed to make them more popular.
None have been quite as obnoxious as Sheldon Whitehouse over the past two days. Someone close to him really should remind him about his memberships in whites-only clubs and how they can be used against him over and over and over again.

Since returning to office on January 20, President Donald Trump has overseen a staggering 93% drop in encounters with illegal aliens at the southern border compared to the previous administration.
As reported by The Populist Times, President Trump shared a chart on his Truth Social account detailing the numbers. During the last 19 days of Joe Biden’s presidency, immigration authorities recorded a daily average of 2,087 encounters with illegals. By contrast, the first week of President Trump’s second term has seen the daily average plummet to about 148.
President Trump has long campaigned on the signature issue of immigration, vowing to crack down on illegal immigration by building a wall on the southern border, increasing deportations, and increasing penalties for illegal aliens, as well as reducing legal immigration to the United States.
Alongside Border Czar Tom Homan, who previously served as Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the first term, President Trump has vowed to carry out the largest mass deportation operation in history. A local DC reporter is facing intense backlash after interviewing a distraught husband and asking him to show his victim wife’s last text messages.
Hamaad Raza was waiting for his wife to arrive at Reagan Airport on Wednesday evening, but she never made it.
As reported earlier, an American Airlines flight carrying approximately 64 souls collided with a Blackhawk helicopter near Washington D.C. Reagan National Airport (DCA) late Wednesday evening.
The helicopter and plane collided over the Potomac.
