The BIG Lie

“Donald Trump and Elon Musk are putting your Social Security checks at risk.” —Senator Elizabeth Warren

Dezinformatsiya

“[DOGE’s work] is an effort to destroy the government so that it’s easier for oligarchs and the Heritage Foundation to do whatever they wish.” —New York Times’s Mara Gay

Leftist Lunacy

“The fact that I’m rooting for Canada and I’m rooting for Mexico a lot is really wild. But they are really the ones that are speaking truth to power right now.” —Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett

Word Salad

“When we think about these moments where we see things that are being taken, but also let’s see it, you know, nature abhors a vacuum.” —Kamala Harris

Re: The Left

“Democrats should ask: Who is truly slow-witted? Is it the stumbling Tom Hanks caricature [on SNL] or the real Joe Biden and his ilk?” —[Victor Davis Hanson](https://patriotpost.us/opinion/114758-tom-hanks-margaret-brennan-and-the-european-ministers-reveal-it-all-2025-02-21

Damned if You Do…

“The Biden administration launched a massive multi-year lawsuit against SpaceX for not hiring asylum seekers, despite the fact that SpaceX is legally BARRED from hiring non-permanent residents under ITAR, because rockets are an advanced weapons technology. In other words, it was both illegal to hire asylum seekers and illegal not to hire asylum seekers!!” —Elon Musk

For the Record

“Many people who have gotten everything wrong about Russia say they know what Russia wants. Many people who know the media reports fake garbage take anonymously sourced reports on a complex negotiation as gospel truth.” —JD Vance

“This departure from post-Berlin Wall universalist liberalism has been a long time in the making, and Vance’s incisive rebuke of European elites powerfully drove home the point. For the foreseeable future, U.S.-Europe relations will not be the same — and that is a good thing.” —Josh Hammer

And Last

“The American people expect every city and state to fully honor ICE detainer requests … and to ensure the safe transfer of criminal aliens into federal custody for immediate removal from our country.” —Donald Trump

You Can’t Always Trust Your Feelings

We hear a lot today from the younger generation about how they feel. It seems our dumbed-down public education in many (not all) schools has taught them how to feel, not how to think. Is that a reliable way to process what’s going on around you?

As a kid growing up (I’m a Boomer), I watched black-and-white war movies on TV. I remember one film in which the soldiers were surrounded by the Japanese in the jungle. At night, the enemy would taunt them by yelling, “GI, tonight you die!” At dawn, they’d find two men in a foxhole dead with their throats slit; no one saw or heard anything. The enemy were like ghosts!

Fast-forward a few years and I’m an 18-year-old Marine in a foxhole at night by myself with the jungle all around. There’s supposed to be two men on duty, but due to casualties, we were shorthanded. We had patrolled all morning, filled sandbags, and dug trenches all afternoon. I had the early morning watch and I was tired.

I was trying to stay awake. Slapping myself wasn’t a good idea, seeing how sound travels at night, and putting a bayonet under my chin in case I nodded off was an even worse idea. I was really struggling … until I heard a sound near my foxhole.

Suddenly, my body was on full alert. Adrenaline kicked in and I was wide awake. I strained my eyes to see in the pitch-black night. I just knew that a Viet Cong soldier was crawling merely a few feet away from my hole to kill me! Sweat ran down my face and into my eyes, making it harder to see. My heart was beating so hard that the enemy could just follow the sound to my position.

I got my K-bar combat knife out and laid it in front of me. Then, I carefully and quietly clicked the safety off on my M-14 rifle. I was not going to be surprised; I was ready!

All of a sudden, a big lizard jumped over a rock near my foxhole. I nearly wet myself! With the threat gone, my adrenaline crashed. I knew there were no poisonous lizards in Vietnam. What I thought was a deadly threat was actually my emotions fooling me.

Now, did I feel like I was in danger? Absolutely. Everything in me said I was in eminent danger. But in reality, there was no real threat. My emotions had tricked me.

Life is like that. I “feel” like I’m in love. I feel like no one cares. I feel worthless, lonely, and depressed. It’s a reality that relying on our feelings alone can get us into trouble. How many young people — or veterans, for that matter — commit suicide because they don’t believe anyone cares for them? Too many!

God has given us emotions like love and anger. But He also gives us wisdom and instruction as to how to control our emotions. Paul told us, “Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger.” (Ephesians 4:26)

I learned that lesson the hard way early in my married life.

Paul also told us we were designed to bear fruit in our life. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22)

There’s a lot of ground to cover there, but let me hit on just one for now: Love can and does produce feelings. However, it’s also a choice. We have to choose to love others, especially those people we don’t like. Jesus didn’t die for us because we were lovable. He chose to love us — and die for us.

Something to think about!Semper Fidelis

Macron to Meet Trump for Talks on Russia–Ukraine Peace Deal

The French president is set to meet President Donald Trump at the White House on Feb. 24.
PARIS—French President Emmanuel Macron will meet U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Feb. 24.
His visit precedes that of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who is set to arrive three days later as part of ongoing transatlantic discussions amid U.S.-led efforts to end the three-year war in Ukraine.
As speculation mounts over Trump’s strategy for resolving the conflict, Macron, who said he speaks with Trump frequently, is seeking to convince his U.S. counterpart that Washington’s approach should align with the interests of the European Union and guarantee Ukraine a seat at the negotiating table.
At a press briefing on Feb. 21, Bertrand Buchwalter, senior counselor to Macron, confirmed that Ukraine would be central to discussions in Washington.
“The President is going with the objective of supporting Trump’s desire to end the war but also ensuring that Ukraine and Europe’s interests are taken into account,” Buchwalter said.
According to Walid Fouque, another counselor to Macron, “This will also be an opportunity to address trade issues as well as the key projects we wish to…

RIF means ‘reduction in force.’ It’s a fancy way of saying, ‘You’re fired.’ Today, some now-former USAID employees were applauded by spectators as they exited the building. I was clapping, too at home. But, for a different reason. (WATCH)

To the 2,000 USAID employees getting released today, I’m sure there’s lots of other leftwing NGOs you can find gainful employment at.

Meet the Cartels – American Thinker

Secretary of State Marco Rubio designated eight cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations  (FTO) in a February 6 Department of State declaration.  His action was responsive to President Trump’s executive order on January 20, which set the framework for designating cartels and other organizations as FTOs.  The January 20 E.O. is one of several orders Trump has signed to address cartel activity and stem the flow of illegal aliens and illicit drugs at the southern border.
The cartels named in Rubio’s declaration are Tren de Aragua, Mara Salvatrucha, Cartel de Sinaloa, Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion, Carteles Unidos, Cartel del Noreste, Cartel del Golfo, and La Nueva Familia Michoacana.  These are some of the most brutal organizations operating in the United States, Mexico, and Central and South America.  All have intricate international networks that participate in the lucrative businesses of extortion, drug- and human-smuggling, organ-harvesting, money-laundering, and human-trafficking.
Rubio referenced section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) as the basis for the designation.  Per the INA, the secretary is authorized to designate as an FTO…

Zelensky Says ‘Ready’ to Resign for the Sake of Peace, NATO Membership – Discern Report

(Zero Hedge)—Speaking at the “Ukraine: The Year 2025” forum on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told an audience of all heads of ministries, agencies, and top officials that he’s ready to resign as president if it brings peace. He suggested the country be guaranteed NATO membership in exchange for his stepping down.
“I am ready to leave my post if it brings peace. Or exchange it for NATO,” Zelensky said in response to journalists’ questions, and at a moment he’s feeling immense pressure from US President Donald Trump. Ukraine regional media Kyiv Post was among the first to report the resignation comments.
The same statement was also translated in Russian state media as follows: “If peace for Ukraine, if you really need me to leave my post, then I’m ready. I can exchange this for NATO, if there are such conditions. I am focusing on the security of Ukraine today, not in 20 years, and I do not intend to be in power for decades,” Zelensky said. He still asserted that martial law has to be lifted before their can be national elections, according to Ukraine’s constitution.
This comes after a week of an open…

NYC’s notorious Roosevelt Hotel shelter will be migrant-free in coming months, Mayor Eric Adams says

The notorious Roosevelt Hotel migrant shelter in Manhattan is expected to close down operations in the coming months, Mayor Eric Adams announced Monday as the number of asylum seekers in the city’s care continues to drop since President Trump took office.
Adams, a Democrat, called the impending closure of the centralized intake center and emergency shelter at the beleaguered Midtown hotel a “milestone” for the Big Apple, which has seen more than 232,000 migrants reach the city since the crisis first began in spring 2022.
Hizzoner, in a video message, credited the winding down of operations at the repurposed site to “the successful strategies we put in place here in New York City and because of policies we advocated for at the border.”

The converted hotel will likely stop being a migrant shelter by June, a source told The Post.
Adams, 64, said the number of arriving migrants entering city care is down to about 350 on average each week – a dramatic decrease from the 4,000 migrants weekly at the height of the crisis.

A statement from The Vatican read: “The night went well; the Pope slept and is resting.”
He is still receiving treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital and had blood transfusions on Saturday following a respiratory crisis.
An update on Sunday night said that the 88-year-old has not suffered any further crises since then but is still critical.
Over the weekend he received blood transfusions to increase his platelet count, but tests show he is suffering from mild kidney failure, which is said to be under control.
On Sunday, the Holy See Press Office said: “The thrombocytopenia remains stable; however, some blood tests show early, mild renal insufficiency, which is currently under control.”
“High-flow oxygen therapy continues through nasal…

Trump’s frustration with generals resulted in an unconventional pick

WASHINGTON –
By late last week, President Donald Trump had decided to fire Gen. Charles Q. Brown, the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and replace him with one of two very different candidates, according to two administration officials.
One was Gen. Michael E. Kurilla, a hard-charging Army four-star general who oversees U.S. military operations in the Middle East, one of the Pentagon’s highest-profile assignments.
The other was a little-known retired three-star Air Force officer, Dan Caine, with an unorthodox career path that included time as a fighter pilot, the top military liaison to the CIA and an Air National Guard officer who founded a regional airline in Texas.

Europe must reach defense ‘independence’ of US: Germany’s Merz

Germany’s conservative election winner Friedrich Merz said Sunday that Europe must boost its own defence capabilities amid growing US-Europe tensions over Ukraine and NATO funding.
“For me, the absolute priority will be to strengthen Europe as quickly as possible so that, step by step, we can really achieve independence from the USA” in defence matters, Merz said.
“After Donald Trump’s statements in the last week it is clear that the Americans are largely indifferent to the fate of Europe,” he said in a TV debate with other top candidates after the election.
Merz, leader of the CDU/CSU alliance, said he had “no illusions at all about what is coming out of America”.
“I am very curious to see what will happen between now and the NATO summit at the end of June,” he said.
But he added that it was questionable “whether we will still be talking about NATO in its current form or whether we will have to establish an independent European defence capability much more quickly”.
NATO chief Mark Rutte congratulated Merz in an X post and told him that he was “looking forward to working with you in this crucial moment for our shared…

Australian Army Officer Loses Security Clearance Over Ties to Israel

A Jewish Australian Army officer’s actions showed ‘divided loyalties’ the Administrative Review Tribunal has found.
An Australian Army officer with 19 years of service has been stripped of his security clearance in a decision upheld by the Administrative Review Tribunal, which found he had “divided loyalties” between Australia and Israel and posed an “unacceptable and avoidable risk to security” as a result.
The Tribunal accepted there was no evidence of acts of foreign interference or espionage as a result of the man’s actions but that something of that nature remained a “possibility we are satisfied is real and not so remote it should be discounted.”
The officer, referred to in the decision as HWMW, joined the Australian Defence Force in 2004. By 2010, he had achieved a security clearance known as negative vetting 2, giving him access to material classified as top secret.
Between 2014 and 2023, he was also a member of a community security group (CSG), a volunteer organisation that provides security and intelligence services to the Jewish community.
In 2016 and 2019, he travelled to Israel to participate in CSG training courses run by former members of Israeli…

Dem Advisor James Carville Predicts ‘Massive Collapse’ Will Hit the Trump Administration in 30 Days – Twitchy

Democrat political advisor James Carville is making his normal media rounds and is predicting an apocalyptic event is on the horizon for President Donald Trump. Carville says the Trump administration will suffer a ‘massive collapse’ in a month.

Carville had been pretty consistent in attacking his Democrat Party for all its bad decisions. Many commenters think Carville got a call from the DNC telling him to cut it out.

Carville is redirecting his anger away from the Democrat Party. He knows they screwed up massively. Said so many times. Guessing he got a talking to.

Only fools think Elon is incompetent

I’m writing a longer post, but it’s taking two days, so in the meantime, here is one of the more absurd statements I’ve seen recently:

This statement is wrong, of course. According to biographer Walter Isaacson, Elon got a 1400 on the SAT in the late 1980s, on his second try. SAT scores and IQ are highly correlated, and according to all the sources I can find, an SAT of 1400 at that time would have roughly corresponded to an IQ of in the mid-130s. Elon also has a bachelor’s degree in physics and was accepted to a materials science PhD program in the 90s. He is a man of well above average intellect.
But that’s not why Abramson’s statement is so absurd. The reason it’s absurd is not its content but its purpose — it represents an attempt to diminish the country’s fear of Elon Musk and his role in American politics by calling him stupid. This is a very foolish thing to try to do.
First of all, IQ is not a great measure of competence at the kind of things Elon is best at — building and improving organizations, identifying talent, managing large numbers of people, fundraising, creating and communicating a vision for the future, and so on. Keuschnigg et al. (2023)…

Death Row Inmate Dead Just One Month Before Execution Date for Grisly Murder of Six-Year-Old Stepson | The Gateway Pundit

A death row inmate has died just one month before his execution date for the brutal murder of his six-year-old stepson.
Christopher Sepulvado, 81, was scheduled to die for his crimes on March 17 but passed away from “natural causes” on Sunday at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola.
In 1992, Sepulvado brutally beat Wesley Allen Mercer, 6, with the handle of a screwdriver before throwing him in a tub of scalding hot water.

“Medical examinations showed that 58% of the boy’s body was covered in second-degree burns while his scalp separated from his skull due to hemorrhaging and bleeding,” according to a report from the Times-Picayune. “Sepulvado admitted at trial that he beat his stepson with a screwdriver, but said the boy accidentally fell into the tub. Mercer’s mother, Yvonne Mercer Sepulvado, was also convicted of manslaughter in the case.”

Attorney General Liz Murrill said in a statement that Sepulvado should have been executed long ago but that the state failed.
“Justice should have been delivered long ago for the heinous act of brutally beating then scalding to death a defenseless six year old boy,” Murrill said.
Murrill continued, “The…
