Coping With Trump Derangement Syndrome

President Donald Trump and Elon Musk sat down for an interview with Sean Hannity this week, and the pair offered insight into both their friendship and working relationship.

To start the discussion, Musk offered an unexpected personal observation of the president. He has gotten to know Donald Trump through their work together, in their focused, mutual goal of exposing corruption and cutting wasteful government programs from federal agencies. “The president has been so unfairly attacked in the media,” Musk said. “It’s really outrageous. At this point, I’ve spent a lot of time with the president, and not once have I seen him do something that was mean or cruel or wrong. Not once.”

After working closely with the president during his campaign and through their efforts today, he can personally attest that the man who has been relentlessly attacked and defamed by the media for years does, in fact, have a heart. That’s why seeing the unrelenting hostility by disgruntled leftists can be a shocking sight to behold.

Musk also shared his firsthand experience with Trump Derangement Syndrome, recounting an incident that played out at a friend’s birthday dinner prior to the election. He explained that all in attendance were “behaving normally” until he merely mentioned the president’s name, which shifted the atmosphere almost immediately: “It was like they got shot with a dart in the jugular that contained, like, methamphetamine and rabies.”

For years, many have used the acronym TDS to describe those who are still dedicated to the false media narrative, which continuously paints Trump and his supporters as racist bigots who want nothing more than to burn the Constitution, with the inconceivable goal of reducing “democracy” to ashes. The prospect of this happening — without consideration as to whether or not it’s actually true — leads those who are trapped in the propagandist spin cycle to continue their downward spiral.

So much so that experts are now providing their analysis on the real-life mental health crisis that having Donald Trump in the White House again has caused for those who cast their vote for the other side.

A recent article in the Daily Beast shared input from several psychologists, who claim to be seeing an uptick in patients with left-leaning political views as they struggle to cope with living in a Trump-led America: “Andrea Bonior, a Georgetown University professor and psychologist, told Axios she has seen an increase in patients, largely Democrats, citing burnout and despair in part due to the mounting uncertainty generated by Trump’s rapid-fire policies and the energy required to keep up.”

That Axios article gathered input from the experts to provide strategies for dealing with the fast pace at which Trump and his team are moving. Daniel Relihan, a researcher at the Silver Stress and Coping Lab at the University of California, Irvine, suggested, “Disengaging is a protective way to reduce stress for mental health, and ultimately to help reduce any impacts of that stress on your physical health.”

Unplugging from the news has been a proven way to minimize overall stress. Yet, regarding the specific task of navigating life for many leftists who still cannot accept their loss in the November election and move forward with Trump as their president, one social media influencer has another coping idea for her left-wing followers.

Suzanne Lambert grew an audience on TikTok after branding herself as the “Regina George liberal,” drawing inspiration from a lead character from the 2004 teen flick “Mean Girls.” Her prompt for other liberal women is to drop the niceties that their side has (according to her) become known for in the political landscape and to start doing things “their way.”

As attention has grown for Lambert’s vision for this new movement, she was asked by CBS to do an interview and detail the reasoning behind her choice of this character as her icon. “One thing that Regina is really good at,” Lambert explained, “she’s good at organizing, she’s good at garnering attention, she hits back, she sticks up for herself — and that’s something we haven’t seen historically from Democrats, from other liberals. And after the election, all of the messaging was ‘how are we going to get through this with love and peace and kindness?’ And sure, those things are true, but I was like, ‘I can’t do another four years.’”

I think most of them missed the memo prompting them to approach political opposition with love and peace and kindness. The barrage of videos that flooded social media immediately after the election of left-wing women screaming and shaving their heads leaves much in question about who exactly received that directive.

Since Lambert publicly encouraged fellow liberals to take matters into their own hands and “organize” like Regina George, their chosen tactic in forging change demonstrates just how broken their psyche might be. Instead of “love and kindness,” they have reduced themselves to the toddler behavior of mocking how conservative women do their makeup in “Republican makeup tutorials.” The end result is typically streaky, unblended makeup, with splotchy blush and clumpy mascara.

On the Right, the irony of lefty women making fun of how conservative women present themselves is not lost. The even greater irony is that these women have chosen this childish character to emulate. They believe the facade of the fearless leader who doesn’t give up. Still, in the movie, Regina George was known for her relentless bullying of others while also gaining attention for herself by spreading lies and insulting people she didn’t like.

As an icon for these leftist loonies, Regina George is a perfect fit — a match made in the mental asylum.

The 2024 election brought a massive win for the country, instituted by people from across the political spectrum. The preservation of free speech after Musk’s acquisition of Twitter likely played a large part in the massive shift from the anti-Trump view that much of the country held at the end of 2020 to the majority support for him that materialized this past November.

Yet if we thought far-left folks were ready to let up and find common ground with the political Right, that seems to be a bridge too far.
