Since returning to office on January 20, President Donald Trump has overseen a staggering 93% drop in encounters with illegal aliens at the southern border compared to the previous administration.
As reported by The Populist Times, President Trump shared a chart on his Truth Social account detailing the numbers. During the last 19 days of Joe Biden’s presidency, immigration authorities recorded a daily average of 2,087 encounters with illegals. By contrast, the first week of President Trump’s second term has seen the daily average plummet to about 148.
President Trump has long campaigned on the signature issue of immigration, vowing to crack down on illegal immigration by building a wall on the southern border, increasing deportations, and increasing penalties for illegal aliens, as well as reducing legal immigration to the United States.
Alongside Border Czar Tom Homan, who previously served as Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the first term, President Trump has vowed to carry out the largest mass deportation operation in history. During his first week, over 3,500 illegals were arrested, including over 1,100 in a single day.
