The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency announced on Wednesday that it has uncovered evidence of a top Biden aide receiving millions of federal dollars to fuel a facility meant for housing recent migrants but which has remained empty for the duration of the country’s crisis.
A Texas nonprofit tied to one of former President Joe Biden’s transition team members was on the receiving end of a government contract for its overflow facility in Pecos. Family Endeavors, which had employed the transition team member since 2021, saw its “cash and portfolio of investments grew from $8.3M in 2020 to $520.4M in 2023” with the sole source of funds coming from the feds, according to a statement by DOGE.
Since March of 2024, Family Endeavors’ managers have reliably received $18 million per month to operate a facility meant for housing unaccompanied migrant children. Despite reporting no residents, the money kept flowing, the statement added.
“With national licensed facility occupancy now below 20%, HHS was able to terminate this contract, saving taxpayers over $215M annually,” states the post on X, which also tags Washington D.C. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin.
