Texas Lawmakers Double Down on Bills to Secure Its Border With Mexico

More than two dozen bills on immigration and border enforcement have been pre-filed for the 89th Texas Legislature that convenes this month. Texas lawmakers pre-filed around two dozen border and immigration bills ahead of the state’s 2025 legislative session aiming at securing its border with Mexico without relying on the federal government’s progress in tackling illegal immigration. With some 11 million non-citizens entering the United States under the Biden administration, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the Republican-led legislature began crafting laws to address what they considered an invasion of the country caused by lax border policies. While President-elect Donald Trump has vowed a mass deportation operation and praised the state’s efforts to stop illegal immigration through Operation Lone Star (OLS), it appears the GOP-led legislature isn’t taking any chances that future presidents will protect the Texas-Mexico border. Saudi Aramco and Sonatrach cut LPG prices for January By Reuters

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Oil producer Saudi Aramco (TADAWUL:) and Algeria’s Sonatrach lowered January’s official selling prices (OSPs) for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by between 1.6% and 6% from December because of weaker demand for the fuel, traders said on Thursday. Aramco’s January OSP for propane decreased by $10 to $625 a metric ton while butane dropped by $15 to $615 a ton, the traders said. Propane and butane are types of LPG with different boiling points. LPG is used mainly as fuel for cars, heating and as a feedstock for other petrochemicals. Sonatrach cut its January OSP for propane by $35 to $550 a ton and for butane by $25 to $560 per ton, traders said. Aramco’s OSPs are used as a reference for contracts to supply LPG from the Middle East to the Asia-Pacific region. Trump’s possible tariffs could put downward pressure on oil prices

Investing.com – President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to implement sweeping import tariffs during his second term in the White House is potentially the “most bearish” policy development for the energy sector this year, according to analysts at RBC Capital Markets. Trump, who is set to come to power in less than two weeks, has vowed to impose tariffs of as much as 10% on global imports into the US and 60% on items coming from China. He has also pledged to slap a 25% surcharge on products from Canada and Mexico. Economists have flagged that the proposal would not only rattle global trade activity, but also threaten to reignite inflationary pressures and spark possible retaliation. Mosaic has created software that does the grunt work of building financial models — a laborious task with complicated calculations that, for eons, has been done by a junior banker.
