‘I Am Emphatic’: Veteran Conservative Broadcaster Pleads Not Guilty to 34 Sexual Assault Charges

Veteran Australian radio broadcaster Alan Jones will plead not guilty to a total of 34 charges, including an additional eight counts of indecent assault.

On Dec. 18, Jones, 83, appeared before Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court and read a statement once outside.

“I am certainly not guilty, and I’ll be presenting my account to a jury as you heard this morning,” Jones told reporters.

“I will not be engaging in a running commentary in the media, but I want you to understand this. These allegations are all either baseless, or they distort the truth, and you should know, prior to my arrest, I was given no opportunity by police to answer these allegations.

“I have never indecently assaulted these people.

“The law assumes that I’m not guilty, and I am not guilty. That’s all I can say at the moment, but I am emphatic that I will be defending every charge before a jury in due course.”

Jones has been charged with historic sexual assault offences against nine people from 2001 and 2019. They include 11 counts of aggravated indecent assault against alleged victims, many of whom had a professional relationship with him.

Russia Says It Has Detained Uzbek Suspected of General Kirillov Assassination

Russia’s intelligence service said the suspect had been promised a reward of $100,000 and permission to move to the European Union by his Ukrainian handlers. An Uzbekistan national who allegedly planted a scooter bomb which killed Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov has been arrested in Moscow, says the Russian investigative committee. The Russian news agency TASS said the Federal Security Service (FSB) had published a statement saying the 29-year-old suspect had confessed to having been recruited by the Ukrainian security services. The FSB said the suspect—who they have not named—had been promised $100,000 and permission to move to a European Union country, if he killed Kirillov, who was the head of Russia’s Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defense Forces. Kirillov, 54, who was named the head of Russia’s nuclear defense forces in April 2017, and his assistant were killed by a bomb hidden in a scooter as they left his apartment block in Moscow’ Ryazansky Prospekt on Dec. 17. The actor, known for his roles as ‘Marv’ in the 1990 holiday comedy ‘Home Alone’ (and it’s 1992 sequel), as ‘Phil’ in 1991’s ‘City Slickers’ (and it’s 1994 sequel), and as the narrator on TV show ‘The Wonder Years.’ One of the funniest things this writer has ever seen was the tarantula scene in ‘Home Alone’, where Kevin drops the hairy spider on Marv’s face. Stern’s scream (which he acted silently on set and recorded in post-production so as not to scare the spider) is hilarious. But she digresses. Derek Chauvin Files State Appeal to Overturn Conviction

Conservatives do not doubt that Derek Chauvin was railroaded, a sacrifice at the BLM altar. However, his martyrdom—which almost ended with his death in prison—may finally end. Chauvin has appealed the judgment against him, and, in an excellent turn of events, he’s just been granted an order by Federal Judge Magnuson to be given blood for testing and heart tissue for examination from George Floyd’s autopsy. The blood tests and tissue examinations may help establish Floyd’s actual cause of death. But of course, the appeal is about much more than a single piece of evidence. German Archaeological Find Sheds Light on Christianity’s Spread Into Europe – PJ Media

Researchers in Germany have translated what they believe is the oldest evidence of the spread of Christianity into Europe. In 2018, archaeologists discovered what they’re calling the “Frankfurt silver inscription,” a rolled foil engraving inside a protective amulet, in the grave of a man in an area northwest of Frankfurt, Germany. “Researchers have used CT scans to ‘digitally unroll’ the ‘wafer thin’ foil and read the inscription within for the first time since the 3rd century AD,” reports the Daily Mail. “Incredibly, the text represents the oldest known evidence of Christianity north of the Alps, dating back to between 230 and 270 AD, scientists say.” While similar amulets from the 3rd through 5th centuries included mixtures of Jewish, Christian, and pagan texts (presumably because the wearer wanted to avoid missing out on the afterlife in any religion they knew of), the scientists behind this discovery refer to the inscription as “purely Christian.” The text is in Latin, which also surprised researchers, and refers to Jesus as well as St. Titus, an early church leader. Church of England Child Sex Abuse Scandal Sees Another Major Resignation

LONDON (AP) – A former leader of the Church of England has resigned as a priest following allegations that he failed to properly handle the case of a priest accused of sexual misconduct. George Carey, who was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1991 to 2002, quit after a BBC investigation reported that he allowed a priest who had been banned over sexual abuse claims to return to priesthood. His resignation letter, sent on Dec. 4, said he had been in active ministry since 1962 and is turning 90. The letter did not mention the investigation. The BBC reported that Carey agreed to allow a priest, David Tudor, to return to working in the church in 1994 after Tudor was suspended from ministry for five years over allegations of assault against teenage girls. Documents suggested that Carey advocated for Tudor to get a job in a diocese, the BBC reported. Carey’s resignation came as another senior clergyman due to take temporary charge of the Church of England faced calls to resign over his handling of Tudor’s case.
