The outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militia will heed its jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan’s call for disarmament and declare an immediate ceasefire, a news agency close to the group cited it as saying on Saturday, in a major step toward ending a 40-year conflict with the Turkish state.

Parents Defending Education estimates that more than 22,000 schools serving 14 million children still maintain diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. Feb. 28 is the deadline for public school districts to end all DEI-related practices, policies, and curricula or risk losing federal funding under President Donald Trump’s executive order enforcing Civil Rights protections. The U.S. Department of Education has not yet specified the next steps for sanctioning schools following the deadline and hasn’t disclosed whether any districts proactively contacted the federal agency with proof of compliance. “Additional guidance on implementation is forthcoming,” Craig Trainor, the agency’s acting assistant director for Civil Rights, wrote via email to The Epoch Times. Japanese firms start job fair for 2026 graduates

Japanese companies started job seminars on Saturday for university students graduating in spring 2026. Companies have been racing to secure talent amid serious labor shortages by taking steps including raising starting salaries. Some 160 companies took part in a joint job fair organized by job information provider Mynavi at the Makuhari Messe convention center in the city of Chiba, near Tokyo, on Saturday. “I want to find a publisher focusing on digital and new businesses,” said a third grader at Seitoku University, who attended the event. President Donald Trump has eased restrictions on airstrikes and military raids, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Feb. 28. “Correct,” Hegseth wrote on social media platform X, confirming a media report that he recently signed a directive during a meeting with leaders from U.S. Africa Command that, under Trump’s approach, eases constraints and oversight on airstrikes and raids by U.S. troops. The relaxation gives commanders greater latitude in targeting strikes and eases a layered system implemented under President Joe Biden, the report said.
