“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” —Joseph Story (1833)
After the biggest comeback in presidential election history 15 weeks ago, and the second inauguration of Donald Trump four weeks ago, it is no surprise to those of us who voted for him that he is keeping his campaign promises to Make America Great Again. And he is doing that at a dizzying pace. As I noted last week, watching Trump 2.0 in action is like nothing America has ever witnessed before.
Not only were the left-protagonists of the Democrat Party blindsided by Trump’s election, but they and their lemming constituents are now acutely besieged with Trump Derangement Syndrome 2.0. The blizzard of his executive orders and actions since 20 January left Demos ducking and covering from a strategic political fusillade of change orders incoming from all sides.
They did not anticipate Trump’s “shock and awe” strategy to restore Liberty, and they never thought that platform would win him a second term. They are also mortified that his approval ratings keep ticking up.
What they missed first and foremost about Trump and his constituents — all of us “deplorables” — is the fact that we are at our core freedom-loving grassroots American Patriots. For Demos, the First Principles of Republican Liberty have been obscured by all of Joe Biden’s mind-numbing “democracy” rants over the last four years. Most Demos now lack even a rudimentary understanding of those principles.
Fact is, no Republican president since Ronald Reagan has been more resolute in the pursuit of restoring American Liberty, and that has Democrats apoplectic, fearful of the neutering of the statist deity they worship.
In her latest word salad, this time to a group of Broadway celebrities, Biden’s failed heir apparent, Kamala Harris, declared: “When we think about these moments where we see things that are being taken, but also let’s see it, you know, nature abhors a vacuum.” Yeah, that’s 100% Harris.
But then, ironically, she concluded: “Let us know that the reality is that the progress of our nation has been about the expansion of rights, not the restriction of rights. We’re seeing a U-turn right now.”
That’s ironic because Harris unintentionally affirmed that Trump IS the U-turn restoring rights suppressed or outright expropriated by the Biden/Harris regime.
So, amid the collective fear and angst among all those Biden/Harris/Walz supporters who hate Trump, particularly those cadres of white-privilege left-elitists who occupy upscale urban and suburban residential areas, there is a question that Demos outside the Beltway need to consider.
Is it possible to hate Trump and not hate his grassroots American supporters? The short answer for most leftists is, no.
Demos are as fearful of all those Trump supporters they indiscriminately label “racist, misogynist, fascist, garbage” as they are of Trump. And the staple of Democrat Party politics for decades has been fomenting hate and division, so the effluent of that staple is inescapable.

Seven years ago, in a column titled “Why They Hate Trump,” I highlighted a Wall Street Journal analysis by David Gelernter, a former national fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and currently a science professor at Yale. He offered insights that are as instructive today as they were then.
Gelernter observed, “What the left hates about Donald Trump is precisely what it hates about America.”
He summarized why Demos feared Trump: “He has no ideology except getting the job done. His goals are to do the task before him, not be pushed around, and otherwise to enjoy life. In short, he is a typical American…”
Gelernter continues: “Mr. Trump reminds us who the average American really is. Not the average male American, or the average white American. We know for sure that, come 2020, intellectuals will be dumbfounded at the number of women and blacks who will vote for Mr. Trump. He might be realigning the political map: plain average Americans of every type vs. fancy ones. This all leads to an important question — one that will be dismissed indignantly today, but not by historians in the long run: Is it possible to hate Donald Trump but not the average American?”
Two months before the 2024 election, Bill Clinton warned about the disdain for Trump supporters at the DNC convention: “I urge you to meet people where they are. I urge you not to demean them, but not to pretend you don’t disagree with them if you do. Treat them with respect — just the way you’d like them to treat you.”
He was astutely aware of the Demos’ widening voter discontent and divide. Still, after Biden and Harris spent the last four years demeaning anyone who did not embrace their ideology, Clinton’s advice was too little, too late.
I recently wrote about UK citizen Konstantin Kisin’s open letter to his “friends who are ‘shocked’ and ‘surprised’” by Trump’s election. I noted that his instructive comments apply equally to American leftists, who long ago lost touch with the foundational principles of our nation embraced by Trump’s grassroots supporters.
A few of the most applicable excerpts from Kisin’s “10 Reasons You Didn’t See This Coming” aptly describe Trump’s supporters:
Americans love their country and want it to be the best in the world. America is a nation of people who conquered a continent. They love strength. They love winning. Any leader who appeals to that has an automatic advantage. … Americans have not accepted managed decline. … Americans do not believe in socialism. They believe in meritocracy. … They don’t resent success, they celebrate it. … Americans … reject the idea that in order to address the errors of the past new errors must be made. DEI is racist. They know it and they reject it precisely because they are not racist. … Americans are extremely practical people. They care about what works, not what sounds good. … Americans are deeply optimistic people. They hate negativity. The woke view of American history as a series of evils for which they must eternally apologize is utterly abhorrent to them. They believe in moving forward together, not endlessly obsessing about the past.“
In closing, Kisin notes: “America is a country whose founding story is one of resistance to government overreach. They loathe unnecessary restrictions, regulations, and control. They understand that freedom comes with the price of self-reliance and they pay it gladly.”
But those words of admiration for Trump’s supporters will be difficult for most Demos to comprehend. And that is because deep in their Demo “HATE TRUMP” echo chambers, the inescapable truth is, they hate his constituents.
Former CNN host Don Lemon summed up the perspective on Trump supporters held by most leftists, calling them “dumb f***ing idiots.”

So, who are those “dumb f***ing” American Patriots the left-elite hate?
We are mothers, fathers, and other family members nurturing the next generation of young Patriots. We are farmers, craftsmen, tradesmen, mechanics, millworkers, and industrial producers. We are small- and large-business owners, service providers, and professionals in medicine and law. We are employees and employers. We are consumers and taxpayers. We are in ministry at home and missionaries abroad. We are students and professors at colleges and universities, often standing alone for what is good and right.
We are Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen among the more than 41 million Veterans who have served our nation since the American Revolution, standing in harm’s way at home and around the world, bound by our sacred oath “to support and defend” our Constitution and the Republic it created.
We are first responders and public servants dedicated to others before self.
We are not defined by race, gender, creed, ethnicity, religion, wealth, education, geography, or political affiliation, which the Left uses to divide the nation.
We first and foremost affirm the unalienable Rights of Man, which are irrevocably endowed by our Creator, the foundation of American Liberty entrusted to us, one and all.
We are Patriot sons and daughters from all walks of life, heirs to the blessings of Liberty bequeathed to us at great personal cost by our Patriot forebears, confirmed in the opinion that it is our duty to God and Country to extend that blessing to our posterity, and avowed upon our sacred honor to that end.
We are bound by our “sacred honor” to that end. We will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up or give in. We are vigilant, strong, prepared, and faithful.
And apparently, we are voters.
