Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover is on damage control to end the week, appearing in an interview with the Financial Times after the iconic British sports car manufacturer decided to nuke its 90-year legacy with a cringe-worthy 30-second ad published on X. Glover said the ad’s “intended message” had been lost in “a blaze of intolerance” on social media platforms and rejected the notion that the video was a “woke” statement. “If we play in the same way that everybody else does, we’ll just get drowned out. So we shouldn’t turn up like an auto brand,” Glover said. He continued, “We need to re-establish our brand and at a completely different price point so we need to act differently. We wanted to move away from traditional automotive stereotypes.” Glover railed against some social media users, saying he was disappointed by “the level of vile hatred and intolerance” in the comments that appeared on the video. An aide to President-elect Donald Trump said on Friday that the incoming administration will not select former Rep. Mike Rogers to be the next FBI director. “Just spoke to President Trump regarding Mike Rogers going to the FBI. It’s not happening—in his own words, ‘I have never even given it a thought.’ Not happening,” Trump aide Dan Scavino wrote on social media platform X. Investing.com — Capital Economics strategist James Reilly expressed skepticism about the implications of Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory for U.S. equities, arguing that the win is not unequivocally beneficial for the stock market. While some market participants have celebrated the potential deregulatory and tax policies, the strategist warns of uncertainties that could weigh on performance. After spending its first episode of Season 2 following a single character in near-total silence, the second season of Graham Yost’s post-apocalyptic mystery crams enough characters, dialogue, and plot catch-up in Season 2 Episode 2 to choke a horse — or fill a Silo, if you prefer. If it’s less effective than its predecessor, it’s because it’s too busy to follow the show’s guiding principle: keep it simple, stupid.
