Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos to Meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos are scheduled to meet Tuesday at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, the tête-à-tête another in the vast parade of business leaders who have already made the same journey since the election.

Reuters notes Sarandos has traditionally backed Democratic Party candidates, making donations to support outgoing President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, according to researcher OpenSecrets.

Sarandos did not immediately respond to Reuters request for comment.

The meeting was first reported earlier on Monday by CNN reporter Alayna Treene on X, formerly known as Twitter.

If the meeting goes ahead as planned it will just be the latest in a string of get togethers between Trump and business leader of all types eager to renew his acquaintance.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for one recently visited Mar-a-Lago and has subsequently donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund.

Sundar Pichai of Google and Tim Cook of Apple followed suit last week while Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is expected to visit in coming days as well.

A new animated film on Netflix recently sparked controversy for mocking the Nativity scene, particularly having one of the characters portraying Mary sing about “keeping” her pregnancy of Jesus Christ instead of going for an abortion. In the scene, a group of children and a teenager named Bernadette participate in a school play about the Nativity story. They decide to modernize it with elements such as a “strictly vegetarian, multicultural fun fest” and a song about climate change. At the start of the production, Bernadette refers to Jesus as a “cool dude,” highlighting his beard and long hair, saying that he is “a hipster basically.” “He wouldn’t have wanted us to do the same boring Christmas story year after year, right, parents?” Bernadette asks. “He’d want a strictly vegetarian, multicultural fun fest with lots of pop songs and stuff about climate change.” Additional changes in the production include shepherds herding vegetables instead of sheep, and the three wise men who came to honor baby Jesus were portrayed as three wise women instead. I live just on the outskirts of Atlanta, and let me tell you that driving here can be a nightmare. When I came across a study conducted by LendingTree about the states with the best and worst drivers, I just knew that Georgia would be in the top five, if not number one. I’ve also spent a lot of time driving in Florida in my lifetime, and I figured it’d be close behind. Florida drivers definitely embody the whole “Florida man” vibe at times. Shockingly, neither state is even in the top 25. So which state has the worst drivers? Massachusetts is the winner… or, uh loser. Between Nov. 5, 2023, and Nov. 4, 2024, Lending Tree found that it had the highest “incident rate” overall with 61.1 incidents per 1,000 drivers. That includes 44.4 accidents per 1,000 drivers, which also makes it the state with the most car accidents. The Bay State also rates pretty high for DUIs, with 2.0 per 1,000 drivers, placing it at number 11, tied with Tennessee. Oddly enough, Massachusetts doesn’t see many speed-related incidents. Pornhub, the world’s most popular pornography website, will deny access to all users in Florida beginning on January 1, 2025, in protest of the state’s new age verification requirements that protect children from adult content. Florida Politics reports that Pornhub, the most trafficked pornography website worldwide, has announced that it will block access for all users located in Florida starting January 1, 2025. The decision comes as a protest against the state’s new age verification requirements imposed by HB 3, a law set to take effect at the beginning of the year. Aylo, Pornhub’s parent company, confirmed the upcoming restrictions in an email, stating that the way Florida and many other jurisdictions have chosen to implement age verification is “ineffective, haphazard and dangerous.” The company expressed concerns over the potential risks to user safety and privacy, as the new regulations would require adult sites to collect substantial amounts of sensitive personal information.
