Our names are Doug and Stacy and we live the pioneer lifestyle in the 21st century in an 1800s style log home we built ourselves. We have been living off grid and homesteading with no public utilities for the past decade where we preserve the old ways and get closer to our food. Our passion is to blend “old ways” with a modern twist so people like you can be more self-reliant, live an intentional life, and be a healthier you.

Water Bills to Rise by Average of 26 Percent in April

The Consumer Council for Water described the increase as the largest rise in water bills since privatisation of the industry 36 years ago. Water bills will rise by an average of 26 percent from April 1, according to figures published by the industry body Water UK on Thursday. This mean customers’ annual bills will go up from £480 last year to £603, an increase of £123 or around £10 a month. However, millions of households will face higher increases as the change varies across England and Wales by water provider. Southern Water customers will see the highest average rise at 47 percent, a £224 increase per year. Hafren Dyfdwy and South West Water will both see rises of 32 percent, followed by Thames Water (31 percent), and Yorkshire Water (31 percent). Only Bristol Water will see a single-digit increase (4 percent), with Sutton and East Surrey Water customers being the only consumers in England and Wales to see their water prices go down (by 2 percent). Other factors can influence a household’s water bill, such as how much water they use and whether their water is metered. […]

For some of you kids who might have missed the story on the History Channel, Tonya was an Olympic ice skater who had thugs take a pipe to her competitor, Nancy Kerrigan’s knee. It’s a thoroughly American story, weirdness and violence included. Tonya was from the proverbial wrong side of the tracks and ice skating’s bad girl. Her rival was the beautiful and elegant John Hughes movie rich kid, Nancy Kerrigan. Ahead of the 1994 Winter Olympics at the US Nationals in Detroit. The scandal was shocking. Keeping a promise he made after winning the 2024 presidential election to end transgender ideology in public education, Trump signed an executive order on Monday after the inaugural ceremony. The order rescinded all U.S. Department of Education guidance documents related to gender ideology, including a toolkit for creating “inclusive and nondiscriminatory schools environments for LGBTQI+ students”; guides for supporting transgender students; a back-to-school message for transgender youth from the U.S. Departments of Justice, Education, and Health and Human Services; and a tip sheet for “2024 Title IX Regulations: Pointers for Implementation.” This last document is a reference to court decisions that allow males access to the dressing rooms of females under the guise of ending “discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.” This has not ended well for advocates. On Wednesday afternoon, President Trump officially signed the Laken Riley Act into law. The Laken Riley Act, which was passed by the House and Senate, “directs Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain illegal immigrants arrested or charged with theft-related crimes, or those accused of assaulting a police officer.” It’s named after Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student who was killed by an illegal alien while she was jogging at the University of Georgia.
