We haven’t heard from actor Sharon Stone in quite a while, although we’ve heard from plenty of celebrities since Donald Trump won the election. We managed to get Eva Longoria and Ellen DeGeneres to leave the country, as so many have threatened to do. This summer, Stone was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy, and told the press she was considering moving to Italy because she’d never “actually seen anyone running for office on a platform of hate and oppression.”

Stone returned to Italy this week to attend the Turin Film Festival and trash America. She said that she knew Italy had experienced fascism, and blamed America’s uneducated population for being ignorant and arrogant.

The comments were made at the Torino Film Festival in Turin, Italy.

Stone appeared to compare Trump to Italian dictator Benito Mussolini.

Universities have suffered a cataclysmic decline in public approval and support. A Gallup poll taken this year found that only 36 percent of Americans polled either expressed “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in higher education — once the agreed-on touchstone to upward mobility. Gifting to most universities has been down for two consecutive years. There is zero intellectual diversity on most university campuses. Speakers with conservative viewpoints are often either disinvited or shouted down — and worse. The federally guaranteed student loan program is in shambles. Some $1.7 trillion in outstanding loans were taken out by half of all college students. Nearly a fifth are now not being paid back. Marriage, child-rearing, and home ownership are all delayed by some 40 million indebted graduates, who can take decades to pay loans back. Ceasefire Takes Effect in Lebanon

TEL AVIV, Israel — The U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror organization has officially taken effect as of 10:00 a.m. local time (3:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time) Wednesday. Under the terms of the agreement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will slowly withdraw from territory it has occupied in southern Lebanon, and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) will move in. Hezbollah will withdraw north of the Litani River, a strategic geographic boundary that Israeli soldiers reached in the last 24 hours before the ceasefire was due to take effect. Many Israelis are skeptical of the ceasefire, because Hezbollah has not been completely defeated. Unlike Hamas, which has been unable to fire rockets consistently at Israel since the IDF took over most of Gaza, Hezbollah has continued to fire rockets and to launch drones into northern Israel, albeit less effectively than it would have done without Israeli military success in destroying Hezbollah’s command structure and infrastructure in Lebanon. A former anchor at ABC News who nearly took his own life recently revealed that a “toxic” atmosphere inside the mainstream news outlet contributed to his suicide attempt. Mexican president warns Trump tariff threat ‘would lead to inflation and job losses’ for both countries

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded to the threat of tariffs from President-elect Donald Trump by warning that a trade war would lead to higher inflation and job losses for both countries. Trump on Monday said that he would issue tariffs on Mexico and Canada over their lack of effort in stopping illegal immigration as well as illicit drugs being smuggled into the U.S. ‘Such a measure would be unacceptable and would lead to inflation and job losses.’ On Tuesday, the recently elected president of Mexico responded in a letter to Trump. “You may not be aware that Mexico has developed a comprehensive policy to assist migrants from different parts of the world who cross our territory en route to the southern border of the United States,” wrote Sheinbaum. Kamala Harris Has a New Message After Losing to Trump

Election Day was three weeks ago, resulting in a win for President-elect Donald Trump, with Republicans also taking control of the Senate and keeping control of the House. Although Trump was declared the winner in the early morning hours following the election, Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t address her sniffling supporters until Wednesday afternoon, a move she was strongly criticized for. On Tuesday night, Harris delivered another message, shared over X. In a clip that’s less than 30 seconds long, Harris declares, “I just have to remind you, don’t you ever let anybody take your power from you. The US and UK have this month been stepping up efforts to thwart Russia’s sanctions evading efforts when it comes to energy exports. This week the British government sanctioned 30 ships involved in Russia’s shadow fleet to disrupt its oil trade, and last week the Untied States moved against Russia’s largest remaining non-sanctioned bank, Gazprombank. Gazprombank is known to handle payments from foreign customers related to those Russian natural gas supplies still going to Europe. Turkey this week is seeking a sanctions waiver from Washington, arguing that it is essential for the country to keep importing Russian gas. It is warning of far-reaching repercussions to the economy if this energy lifeline is cut off. “These sanctions will affect Türkiye. We cannot pay, if we cannot pay we cannot buy the goods. Trump had vowed throughout his presidential campaign to allow energy companies to drill more for oil and gas to boost output and lower prices for consumers. Despite President-elect Donald Trump’s vow to drill more for oil and gas, an executive with oil giant Exxon said that petroleum producers are unlikely to radically increase production as companies remained focused on capital discipline. “We’re not going to see anybody in ‘drill, baby, drill’ mode,” Liam Mallon, head of Exxon’s upstream division, told the Energy Intelligence Forum conference in London on Tuesday, quoting Trump’s election promise to expand drilling once in office. “A radical change [in production] is unlikely because the vast majority, if not everybody, is focused on the economics of what they’re doing.” Mallon said that “maintaining the discipline, driving the quality, driving the information, will naturally limit that growth rate.” But Mallon said that the federal relaxing of land permitting processing could provide a short-term boost to oil and gas production.
