The ‘Handmaidens’ Promise Chastity

Not surprisingly, leftists have devolved into post-election puerile temper tantrums via social media, and the most pathetic ones are coming from the feminists. These women — mostly white — are so irate at “losing their rights” because of Donald Trump that they have joined the so-called “4B” movement.

The 4B movement — which stands for no dating, no marriage, no sex, and no children — was a mostly online movement started by anonymous people in South Korea. In the U.S., radical feminists are vowing that they’ll either remain single and chaste for the next four years or they’ll refuse to commit to a man unless their values align exactly.

Here are some of the videos:

Many young women are devastated because they think they now can’t get an abortion whenever they want. But sadly, that’s not true. Overturning Roe v. Wade only turned the question of abortion back to the states to decide. And there are a plethora of states that have no limits on abortion whatsoever and are only a car or plane ride away.

These irrationally angry feminists are obviously not well and probably have other issues. You really have to wonder: How many of them have already suffered through an abortion themselves?

What’s really ironic about this 4B declaration is that it’s not a new idea. In fact, feminists are reenacting the ideas in the Greek comedy “Lysistrata.”

In “Lysistrata,” the women of Sparta and Athens try to end the Peloponnesian War by withholding sex from their husbands. In the end, the women succeed. However, there is a telling passage in one of the commentaries that states society): “Consider that Greek comedies usually dealt with the absurd and the impossible [emphasis added]. In this sense, the idea that women could withhold sex and change men’s minds through such an action is rather implausible — not least because Greek men had a variety of venues to appease their sexual desire.”

Likewise, these feminists abstaining from promiscuity and committing to celibacy for the next four years in the hopes of changing men’s minds is a rather absurd proposition. Yet, well aware of the irony, many conservatives are praising their decision to avoid promiscuity.

Unlike in the Greek play, our radical feminists do not want to bring about peace and put an end to killing; in fact, they want killing to be unfettered for the defenseless preborn. Also unlike in the play, the power balance between males and females is skewed in the latter’s favor. Women have plenty of autonomy and choice in relationships. Women also have a lot more power in the political sphere. However, this form of coercion only works if men might be persuaded by these tactics. On the whole, it just comes off as a petty tantrum — and an ineffective one at that.

While it is sad that these women have declared for 4B out of anger and evident despair, one cannot help feeling that their commitment can only bring about good. Perhaps they’ll come to their senses once life goes on as normal and nothing changes in their world. Or perhaps — as The Daily Wire’s Brett Cooper suggests — Robert F. Kennedy Jr.‘s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) policies will change our food supply and help stabilize these unhappy women. Either way, their commitment to the 4B movement seems to be a net positive.
