On Wednesday, the Trump Administration’s Department of Agriculture (DOA) announced several measures to lower the prices of eggs as bird flu continues to plague many farms across the country.
DOA Secretary Brooke Rollins made the announcement in an interview with Fox News, confirming that several policies are being enacted to make eggs more affordable for consumers, as well as to help farmers deal with the disease that has been ravaging their chickens.
Citing a “long road” of excessive overregulation of the farming industry dating back to the Obama Administration, Secretary Rollins announced the investigation of several policies that negatively impact farmers, including a policy that ordered them to slaughter most of all of their chickens to combat the virus. Although the policy won’t be reversed immediately, the Trump DOA will be determining whether or not to roll back this and other policies.
“We are going to have some pilot programs across the country that work to prove that out,” said Secretary Rollins. “The avian flu is an extremely fast-spreading virus, and within a couple of days it spreads so quickly that most of the chickens have died anyway. But…
