Elon Musk may be Donald Trump’s new right-hand man, but Americans across the country are beginning to question his allegiance to the red, white, and blue — after the latest H-1B controversy that’s taken over right-wing political debate.
The debate began when Trump appointed India-born Sriram Krishnan to be his administration’s policy advisor for AI, and supporters pointed out that Krishnan has supported increasing the immigration of skilled workers.
Trump supporters argued that this directly contradicts Trump’s America First policy.
Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk chimed in, siding with Krishnan’s immigration stance — before Americans found out that Elon would hire an immigrant over an American if they were more skilled.
The pair also claimed in a series of posts on X that Americans have been conditioned through their culture to be lazier than immigrants from places like India.
Musk even responded to a critic on X: “The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla, and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B. Take a big step back and F*CK YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this…

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is facing scorching criticism for being AWOL when the fires broke out in the county. She was in Ghana for the new president’s inauguration, though her office says she was aware of the fires mid-flight and was hands-on regarding handling the response. I doubt that since firefighters are overwhelmed, there’s not enough of them, and there’s no water.
When asked if she regrets cutting the fire department’s budget by nearly $20 million a few months back and if she owes residents an apology for not being in the country when the inferno broke out, she kept her mouth shut. It was astounding. But we also know why she might want to clam up.
This is one of the most disturbing clips I have ever seen.
Her people have lost everything, due to her recklessness, incompetence, and failure of leadership. And she has no remorse whatsoever, no shame at all. https://t.co/CgPrG72cus

Going back to her days on the Hill, then-Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA) torched Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on social media for absconding to Cancun with his family during the 2021 winter storm. Yeah, sit down,…

It is always hard to get back into writing in the new year – this year in particular. As a family we stayed in London – and over the last few years, with my oldest doing motorsport and my youngest at a football academy, as family we are rarely together for long periods of time. Hanging out at home has allowed me to try and make a dent in my massive tsundoku that has accumulated on my bed side table. One book I managed to finish is Ultra-Processed People by Chris van Tulleken – a Christmas present from 2023! There was nothing too radical in the book, the idea of processed food not being good for you is not particularly mind blowing. There was one very interesting idea I took from Ultra-Processed Food. While humans basically need a certain amount of calories, we also need various other macro nutrients, which turn up in various random foods. I know that I occasionally will have a craving for steak, grapes, pineapples and apples, that will disappear after a day or two of gorging on these foods. In Ultra-Processed Food, the author points out that these macronutrients do not really appear in processed foods, or if…

Ted Cruz and Rep. Ralph Norman, House members would be ineligible to run after their third term, senators after their second.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) have introduced joint resolutions in the Senate and House respectively, calling for congressional term limits.
“With the evident abuse of power that has taken place in Congress, the notion of term limits is basic common sense,” Norman said in an emailed statement.
The amendment would limit House members to three terms of two years, and Senate members to two terms of six years.
However, terms that began before the amendment’s ratification are not counted towards the total number. This has relevance for Cruz, who began a third term in the Senate this year.
“The Founding Fathers envisioned a government of citizen legislators who would serve for a few years and return home, not a government run by a small group of special interests and lifelong, permanently entrenched politicians who prey upon the brokenness of Washington to govern in a manner that is totally unaccountable to the American people,” Cruz said.
The action currently has support in both chambers of…

By Yuka Obayashi and Trixie Yap
(Reuters) – Oil prices declined for a second day on Thursday after large builds in fuel inventories in the U.S., the world’s biggest oil user, though expectations for increasing winter fuel demand and concerns over tighter supply limited the drop.
futures fell 8 cents to $76.08 a barrel by 0409 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures dropped 11 cents to $73.21. Both prices were down around 0.1% from the previous session.
Both benchmarks fell more than 1% on Wednesday as a stronger dollar and the bigger-than-expected rise in U.S. fuel stockpiles weighed on prices.
Gasoline stocks rose by 6.3 million barrels last week to 237.7 million barrels, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected a 1.5 million-barrel build. [EIA/S]
Distillate stockpiles rose by 6.1 million barrels in the week to 128.9 million barrels, versus expectations for a 600,000-barrel rise.
But crude inventories fell by 959,000 barrels in the week, compared with analysts’ expectations for a 184,000-barrel draw.
“Increased U.S. fuel inventories prompted some selling, but the downside is limited due to the winter…

The US Capitol Police arrested a man Wednesday after he allegedly attempted to set his car on fire near the Capitol as President-elect Donald Trump was visiting Republican lawmakers and paying his respects to late former President Jimmy Carter.
The disturbing incident unfolded in front of the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial just before 5:30 p.m. – at the same time Trump, 78, was arriving at the Capitol Building.
Officers were alerted to a man who had parked in front of the memorial before setting a bag on top of his vehicle ablaze, Capitol Police said.
Throngs of people visited the Capitol on Wednesday to pay their respects to late former President Jimmy Carter. Probal Rashid/ZUMA Press Wire / SplashNews.comThe bag “extinguished on its own” as officers rushed over to the car and placed the man under arrest.
Capitol Police’s Hazardous Incident Response Division inspected the vehicle and determined that it was not a danger by 7 p.m.
Authorities said the car had been spray-painted and investigators found accelerants inside the bag.
The driver of the car, an unidentified 35-year-old Virginia man, was arrested for unlawful…

Washington –
Former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said Wednesday that his country aims to take its alliance with the United States to a higher level after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
Suga made the comments in a meeting in Washington with Sen. William Hagerty, a Republican who served as U.S. ambassador to Japan during the first Trump administration.
Hagerty responded by saying that he would not hesitate to support such efforts.
Suga built a relationship of trust with Hagerty during his tenure as chief cabinet secretary.
Suga is scheduled to attend the state funeral of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on Thursday as a special envoy of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

Australian mining magnate Andrew Forrest has been mentioned as an orchestrator of smear campaigns against U.S. oil giant ExxonMobil in a defamation lawsuit.
On Jan. 6, ExxonMobil filed a court case against California Attorney General Rob Bonta and several environmental groups at a federal court in Texas, accusing them of slandering the company’s plastic recycling ventures.
The case follows Bonta’s September 2024 lawsuit, which alleged ExxonMobil had lied to the public when promoting its “advanced recycling” facility as a solution to plastic waste.
In the new lawsuit, ExxonMobil alleged that the Intergenerational Environment Justice Fund (IEJF), a non-profit organisation controlled by Forrest, had enlisted a law firm called Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP, to work with Bonta to smear the company.
It claimed that the law firm had received hundreds of thousands of dollars of funding from the IEJF.
It also alleged that the IEJF was a subsidiary of Forrest’s charity organisation, Minderoo.
