Kash Patel, Donald Trump’s choice to be his FBI director, is the kind of man you nominate if you intend to break something. In this case, it is what the president-elect calls the deep state. And the bureau Patel hopes to lead should brace for the worst. “I’d shut down the FBI Hoover Building on day one and reopen it the next day as a museum of the deep state,” he told podcaster Shawn Ryan this fall. In his 2023 book, Government Gangsters, he minces no words in appraising the class of officials who comprise the deep state. One of those people is MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who is trying to tie Biden’s decision to Trump and his FBI pick Kash Patel. ‘Morning Joe’ Hits New Low As Brutal Post-Election Slump Worsens

Once a flagship program for the network, MSNBC’s Morning Joe is facing its toughest test yet as viewers continue to tune out in droves. The ratings for the morning talk show hit new lows this week, further straining its position amid upheaval at parent company Comcast. On Tuesday, Nielsen reported that Morning Joe attracted just 680,000 total viewers, a 12 percent drop from Monday’s broadcast. The program also struggled in the highly sought-after demographic of adults aged 25-54, drawing only 86,000 viewers — another 12 percent decline. The figures mark a steep 38 percent drop in total audience and a 37 percent decline in the key demo compared to the show’s average for 2024. Tuesday’s broadcast was the third-lowest-rated of the year according to The Independent. The timing couldn’t be worse for the long-running program hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. Trust in the FBI has cratered among Americans, says CNN pollster

CNN poll analyst Harry Enten documented how Americans have drastically lost trust in the Federal Bureau of Investigation through the past decades. President-elect Donald Trump nominated former National Security Council official Kash Patel as director of the FBI over loud protest from many on the left and some establishment Republicans. ‘That is by far the lowest number this century.’ Enten showed that polling had found a large majority had faith in the FBI doing a good or excellent job, about 59% in 2014. That dropped to 57% in 2019, 50% in 2022, and a shocking 41% in 2024. “Look at where we are today, my goodness gracious, just 41% of Americans think the FBI is doing an excellent or good job. That is by far the lowest number this century,” he said. “The bottom line is during the Trump administration obviously there were the investigations into Donald Trump.
