About a week ago there were reports that DC special counsel Jack Smith was planning to step down before Donald Trump took office:

Special counsel Jack Smith intends to step down before President-elect Donald Trump takes office and is discussing the mechanics of winding down the federal prosecutions against him with Justice Department leadership, a DOJ official familiar with the discussions said.

Trump has threatened to fire Smith, but Smith expects to be gone before Trump takes office.

Trump and his allies have repeatedly threatened to fire and prosecute Smith’s team. In October, the president-elect said he would use presidential powers to end Smith’s probe and promised to fire Smith “within two seconds.”

Fast forward several days, and it looks like Smith and his team might be trying to get out the door before Trump gets in and takes action.

It’s easy to say that stuff has to go. Unfortunately, lots of Swamp critters have burrowed deeply into the muck surrounding the White House. And while Vivek and Elon are really smart, there are a couple of blind spots that can be fixed. Maybe more than a couple… The most obvious is simple. Most people who have reached a degree of education fit for the task of helping out with DOGE are old enough that the 80-hour weeks that Musk and Ramaswamy demand are a problem. I used to work such hours when I was younger in an understaffed hospital Anesthesia department. I definitely fit the IQ requirement they’ve put out, but I no longer have the physical stamina for those long hours. If that requirement were dropped for certain supporting roles, I’d be ready to work. One job I’d volunteer for would be as an idea screener. Suppose that a website was set up to receive ideas for government waste reduction. It would become a portal for suggestions that would then be batted around before massaging them into tight presentations for the big Kahunas. Recently, I received a treasure trove of documents from a source inside the CDC showing they’ve known for over 20 years that Wakefield was right: vaccines cause autism. A summary suggest that vaccines can and do cause autism and the CDC has known this for decades. I recently received a treasure trove of electronic documents from deep inside the CDC. These documents have never been made publicly available. The documents include voice-recordings, emails, hand-written notes, diagrams, and data. The often repeated claim that “vaccines don’t cause autism” is quite simply inconsistent with this evidence which can be authenticated. Kirsch has secured copies with friends in case something happens to him and has shared them with a very select few for authentication purposes, so we’ll be waiting on the follow-up.
